Her story
Getting to know Jess
“Jess does not just enjoy attention. She positively blossoms in it.”
Jess came to live with her current family after her previous owner, their much-loved nan, died. She has settled into family life as a bright, confident and very people-focused young cat.
She is happiest when affection becomes a game. She leans into strokes, enjoys gentle tickle play and will chase feathers, string toys, balls and anything pleasantly bouncy. She sometimes chooses a lap and is wonderfully tolerant of being groomed, although being picked up is not her idea of a good time.
Jess does not merely tolerate dogs, she loves them. She lives with three giant Newfoundlands, a Golden Retriever, a Goldendoodle and a tiny Pomeranian who jumps on her and plays chase. Jess has been seen playing, kissing and snuggling with every one of them. The hope is still that she will be the only cat in her new home, so she can enjoy all the feline attention, but a kind dog could be a wonderful friend.

Where Jess can thrive
Plenty of human time
Someone who genuinely wants an affectionate companion and will make time for strokes, tickles and interactive play every day. Jess would ideally live with someone who is home for much of the day. A normal working-hours absence five days a week should still be manageable, provided she then has plenty of company in the evenings and at weekends and is not routinely left alone then too.
Her own feline territory
She can live around other cats, but she is likely to thrive as the only cat, with no need to compete for people or space.
Indoor security
An indoor home is strongly preferred. A properly secured catio could be a lovely bonus, but free roaming is not the plan for her.
Dog friends are welcome
Jess genuinely loves dogs and has played, kissed and snuggled with dogs ranging from giant Newfoundlands to a tiny Pomeranian. Any resident dog must still be safe and respectful around cats.
Everyday life with Jess
Affection
Enjoys being stroked and may choose to sit on a lap.
Play
Loves interactive feather, string, ball and bouncy toys.
Handling
Easy to groom, but does not enjoy being picked up.
Food
Currently eats wet food morning and early evening, with a small amount of dry food.
Litter
Uses a covered tray without a flap and is familiar with wood-pellet litter.

Confident in the home, friendly and keen to be involved.

Actively enjoys playing, kissing and snuggling with both giant and tiny dogs.
Honesty matters
Things to understand before enquiring
The right adopter deserves the whole picture, and Jess deserves someone who is ready for it.
Jess was born with a right eye that does not fully open. A vet has assessed it, is happy that no treatment is needed, and it does not bother her.
She has occasionally toileted beside the litter tray under a table. A calm transition, clean trays in quiet places and more than one tray will be important in her new home.
She is wormed and flea treated, but is not currently vaccinated, microchipped or neutered. She will be neutered before rehoming, and Cats Protection will confirm the complete pre-adoption health plan.
Although she has not lived with children in her current home, her family is confident that this exceptionally gentle cat would be just fine with kind, respectful children. Cats Protection will still consider the whole household when making the match.

Their family will not ask for or accept any money for them. Instead, we ask their new family to please make a generous donation directly to Cats Protection Aberystwyth & District, alongside any adoption fee or arrangements required by the charity. It is a lovely way for one happy adoption to help provide food, shelter, veterinary care and a new home for the next cat who needs them.
